Apex Extreme fills in record time

This year's Apex Extreme has reached capacity in record time. All 80 places in the thrilling event, which will be held on the weekend of 8th-10th October 2010 at Gradbach Scout Camp in the Peak District have now been claimed.

To check if your team is one of those which has successfully managed to secure a place in the event, check the confirmed team list. If your team is listed there and for any reason you wish to withdraw from the competition, please contact us and your place can be offered to another team which is waiting on the provisional team list.

With around a month and a half left until this year's Apex Extreme we'll now be concentrating all our events on making sure the competition is even bigger and better than ever before. We've already confirmed that archery will be among the new activities on offer and there are plenty more surprises in store as well. Keep checking the blog between now and October as we reveal more about what we've got planned!

If you were hoping to take part in this year's event but didn't manage to confirm your entry in time, we'll be opening entries for the 2011 Apex Overnight Challenge early in the new year.

Apex on target for new activities

Archery is one of the brand new activities confirmed for this years' Apex Extreme. Competitors will get the chance to fire their arrows for crucial points as they take on this weekend-long adventure event.

More than a dozen adventure activities will be available on the Saturday. Teams will be trying to visit as many as they can to gather those crucial Apex Points.

Specialist instructors are being brought in to offer this brand new activity - which will take skill, nerve and a steady hand to succeed. Other activities will include rock climbing, abseiling, high ropes courses and a specially created watersports experience.

The rest of the weekend will also bring a string of adventure challenges with our Sunday assault course set to be the biggest and toughest yet.

The event is filling up quickly, so grab your mates and enter a team before it's too late!

Race starts to confirm entries

After just three weeks 80 teams have already entered this Autumn's Apex Extreme. It means the race is now on for those teams that have entered to confirm their places.

We've already had cheques in from more than 60 teams so there's really not long left if you want to be certain of one of the remaining places in this year's event which is taking place on the weekend of 8th - 10th October in the Peak District.

The only way to confirm your place is to get your cheques to Apex HQ to cover your entry fees and any T-shirts you would like to order. It's important to remember that registering your team is not enough to guarantee your place in the event. If your team is currently listed on the Provisional Team List page it means we haven't yet received your cheque and it is still possible for other teams to confirm their places first. Once 80 teams have confirmed their places then the event will be closed to any other entrants.

It is still possible for you to register online to take part in the competition. Just fill in your details on the online entry form and send your cheque to us as quickly as you can to make sure of your place.

For those of you who are taking part, we'll be announcing more details about the event over the next few weeks. Keep checking back here!

New annual report online

We've got big plans to start expanding the Apex Challenge during 2010 to make sure even more teams can take part in the event than ever before. It was clear from the response our events got in 2009 that more teams want to compete in our events and we want to be able to make it possible for them to join us.

It's one of our big aims for 2010 to start making sure the Apex Challenge can grow even bigger and you can read about that and some of our other exciting plans in our latest annual report which is now available online.

The document also spells out exactly how much is spent on each of our events and gives an insight into the work that goes on behind the scenes to make sure you enjoy taking part in the event more and more each year.
